A big group of meals business executives, patrons and butchers from the Netherlands launched into a tour of Wales final week, to seek out out extra about Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.
The tour, organised by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC), took in a cooking masterclass by famend chef Jamie Tully, a butchery demonstration, visits to a number one processing firm, and an immersive tour hosted by award-winning farmers Richard and Helen Roderick.
The Roderick household rear sheep and beef cattle at Newton Farm close to Brecon. Richard is a previous winner of HCC’s scholarship, which enabled him to check beef programs within the USA, and Newton Farm is a previous winner of the Silver Lapwing award for good environmental administration.
Richard Roderick mentioned: “For potential abroad prospects, there’s nothing like seeing first-hand the non-intensive, sustainable and high-welfare farming strategies that now we have in Wales. The Dutch delegation have been very fascinated by how we produce beef and lamb, and its traceability all the best way from farm to fork.”
HCC head of Provide Chain Supply Jon Parker mentioned: “The Netherlands is a vital export marketplace for PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef. This tour was a superb alternative to showcase how we farm, and the standard and flexibility of Welsh meat.
“Many due to Richard Roderick and household, and to our visitor chef Jamie Tully, who’re passionate ambassadors for our produce.”
