This beautiful speckled Chocolate Robin’s Egg Cake is the right Easter dessert for chocolate lovers! Little bunnies will adore this festive Easter cake.
This chocolate cake is moist and scrumptious and adorned with lovable chocolate egg candies. I used Whoppers (the large ones) however you should use no matter egg goodies you want!
Don’t need the cake to be blue however need the identical speckled egg impact? No downside! Simply go away it white and use the vanilla further x cocoa powder trick to embellish the cake. And since I do know you’ll ask: I used Wilton icing colour in teal for this pretty shade of blue.
Chocolate Robin’s Egg Cake
For the cake:
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup darkish cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup 1% milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Blue frosting, recipe follows
To brighten:
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cocoa powder
Chocolate robin’s eggs candies
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease three 8″ cake pans. Coat with cocoa powder the best way you’d usually flour pans.
- Mix sugar, flour, darkish cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in massive mixing bowl. Add eggs one after the other and blend till integrated. Add milk, oil and vanilla unexpectedly and beat on medium pace of mixer about two minutes. Stir within the boiling water. Divide batter into ready pans.
- Bake 22 to 25 minutes or till wood choose inserted in middle comes out clear. Cool 10 minutes; take away from pans to wire racks. Cool utterly.
- Make frosting, recipe follows, and frost cake.
- Combine cocoa powder and vanilla extract so that you’ve a skinny brown paste. Blue Frosting
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

- Beat butter with electrical mixer till good and fluffy. Beat in two cups of powdered sugar till integrated, then add almond extract.
- Beat in two extra cups of powdered sugar till mixed. Add a tablespoon of milk and ultimate cup of powdered sugar. Beat in one other tablespoon of milk. Add extra powdered sugar or milk as wanted to achieve your required consistency. Add meals coloring to achieve your required shade of blue.
Observe: Don’t like almond extract? No downside! Use two teaspoons of vanilla extract as a substitute.
