Cultivating the Meals Group in West Georgia by Constructing Bridges between Native Farmers and Early Care & Schooling Facilities — The Dust


Since 2017, Georgia Organics has been participating West Georgia households in studying about, rising, and buying native, wholesome meals. Lately, Georgia Organics has deepened its roots within the space with new partnerships and actions as a part of its ongoing Farm to Early Care & Schooling programming.  

Over the previous few months, Georgia Organics’ Group Collaborations staff partnered with native farmer Terri Parmer of Excessive Spirits Farm to work with college students and workers on the College of West Georgia Early Studying Middle and the Group Motion for Enchancment‘s (CAFI) Carrollton Head Begin. Collectively, they grew seasonal vegetable gardens with turnips, kale, collards, lettuce, spinach, radishes, dill, strawberries, marigolds, and extra. Each month, Farmer Terri spent hands-on time within the backyard with college students, learn to lessons about farming and wholesome consuming, and even introduced in considered one of her hens, Ms. Betty, to go to.
