Croydon North MP Steve Reed has changed Jim McMahon as Shadow Secretary of State for Setting, Meals and Rural Affairs in Labour’s cupboard reshuffle after McMahon stepped down attributable to well being points.
Reed was beforehand Shadow Justice Secretary in 2021, and has served as MP for Croydon North since 2012. His new place will place him in opposition to Conservative Therese Coffey as he undertakes his Governmental obligations.
McMahon publicly resigned in a letter of resignation posted on 4th September on the social media platform ‘X’ (previously Twitter).
The letter, addressed to Labour chief Keir Starmer, stated: “Because the reshuffle begins this week I needed to take the chance to step down from the Shadow Cupboard.
“I’m happy with all of the work that we have now performed because you turned Chief to reveal the Authorities’s failures on water high quality, meals safety, animal welfare and a bunch of vital environmental points.”
